HISTORY + CURRENT
Hillcrest Bible Church is a non-denominational and evangelical church family where the Sunday services are carefully planned to focus on connecting people to Christ through God’s Word. Hillcrest is all about developing and sending out leaders as one of our five stated core values as a local church. We desire to be increasingly intentional and deliberate with our time, energy, and resources in becoming a HUB for Gospel proclamation, reaching the lost, equipping the saints, and planting more joy-filled, biblically saturated, multi-generational communities of faithful disciples in Dane County and beyond.
Hillcrest Bible Church has roots dating back to 1988. In the nearly 35 years in Oregon, attendance has steadily increased from about 50 to nearly 350 per Sunday.
Oregon is a rapidly growing community with increasing numbers of young families which is reflected at HBC in service attendance and children’s ministries. The proximity to Madison and the University of Wisconsin has brought many professionals in the areas of science and engineering who are comfortable integrating their faith with their careers. Hillcrest Bible Church is located in Oregon, Wisconsin, and has become a growing bedroom community just outside of Madison.
MISSION, VISION, & VALUES
Our Mission:
People helping people find life with Jesus, one life at a time.
Our Vision:
Inspiring multi-generational communities towards a life of FOLLOWING Jesus, BUILDING Community, and SEEKING Transformation in our homes, neighborhoods, and world.
Our Values:
Joy in Jesus - It all starts here. Finding more happiness and delight in Christ than anything else in this world. Jesus is better.
Biblically Saturated - We desire to see our people become first-handers and self-feeders of God’s Word, not just passively being fed from others.
Generous Relationships - Now that we have this joyous relationship with Christ, it inevitably spills out to those around us in how we use our time, treasure, and talents for His glory alone.
Intentional Apprenticeship - Out of all the generous relationships, we ask the question of “Who is your one?” The one person that you are intentionally walking alongside in their journey with Christ.
Desperate and Dependent Prayer - Prayer is the work. It all begins with, continues to be sustained by, and comes to fruition with the Lord doing the work. We desire to live a life fully dependent upon God asking the question, “God, what are you inviting me into?”
OUR BELIEFS:
Jesus Christ, God’s Son and true God, having also become true man, lived, suffered, died and rose for the sins of all people, that we might not be separated from God any longer.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, correct and true in all its parts, and the only source for all teaching and conduct of the Christian.
All people are sinners separated from God who cannot save themselves and deserve eternal punishment.
All of us have sinned and thereby have separated ourselves from God, that we cannot save ourselves, and deserve eternal banishment from God’s presence. Each person, therefore, is saved from eternal separation from God by the grace of God Himself, through faith in Jesus Christ. In response to this loving gift of God, Christians will strive to live holy lives as the fruit of their faith.
God gives his Holy Spirit to empower Christians for ministry and spiritual growth. Christians are to be united with other believers in a faithful local church where they may grow in their faith, serve God and do His Work, and where they may also follow Christ in believer’s baptism and remember Him through communion. God created us to enjoy our fellowship and to live in a loving relationship with Him forever.

Hillcrest Life Groups:
Life Groups are small groups of people who gladly commit to meeting together to encourage our ongoing spiritual transformation. Life Groups are our primary means for encouraging people to grow in their faith and love for Jesus.
Three Key Components to a Life Group:
Life in the Text - In our groups we use the Inductive Bible Study Method to read and reflect on God’s word. We find this method allows us to seek out what the scriptures say and how they apply to our lives.
Life in Community - Group leaders are equipped to engage their group in deeper connection and sharing life together. Life Groups are the place where you can be known, supported and challenged in a meaningful way.
Life on Mission - Part of growing in faith is following the call of Jesus to love our neighbors. Life Groups work together to serve, build relationships, and engage with the people in our cities and help people find life with Jesus.
LOCATION & DEMOGRAPHICS
Even though the Village of Oregon is 15 minutes south of Madison amidst the farm fields, the influence is felt! The same things that are challenges to the Gospel there can be felt in our smaller bedroom community. The major difference is that parents here in Oregon look to their kids, the education they receive, and the activities they take part in to fill the void of the Gospel.
• Population: 11, 100 (5.58% 1-year growth)
• Median Age: 39 years old! Oregon is a bustling and growing bedroom community that attracts many young families for the sought after schools.
• Age Demographics: 54% are aged 30 to 64 years old and 22% are under the age of 15! That is so many school-aged families, which is the primary demographic of our Village.
ADULT MINISTRY APPROACH
Adult Ministries focuses on creating opportunities to move people from a “functional” great commission of “Go into all the world and make more worship attenders, baptizing them in the name of small groups, and teaching them to volunteer a few times a month” to instead, live out an authentic disciple-making Great Commission as seen in Matthew 28. We do this through the street to seat ministries like men’s, women’s, and older adults, but at the heart of it all is Life Groups.
